We have a saying here in conservative circles: "Democracy" is two wolves and a sheep, all with equal voting rights, deciding what's for lunch.
Also, there's a word that needs more usage when dealing with race.
"Racialist": Someone that sees racism in every aspect of life. True racialists judge a person on the color of their skin, ignoring the content of their character while calling out others for being racist.
2. The USA is not a democracy and was never intended to be. It is a constitutional republic made up of fifty states hence the “United” states of America join together in a Republican form of government. The last thing anyone should want is a democratic form of government where 50%+1 always rules. The 49% never have a voice.
1. Progressive as a political label was created by Lenin. He understood that when promoting communism in the US the name “communist” would never work. So he invented progressive. And so it has been ever since.
I always thought we were a constitutional republic and not a democracy. In fact the constitution never mentions democracy and actually has limits in place to protect against democracies. Democracy is just another word for popular vote or 'To be ruled by masses.'
Read what the framers thought about democracies. The term constitutional republic is a new term never used before this century. I believe it came to be because of all the terms the left use to confuse the issue of what we were given. We are a Republic guaranteed by the Constitution.
The United States was never intended to be a true democracy. It was founded as a Republic with checks and balances to insure we would not become a democracy. Our founders knew were democracies lead. Those checks and balances are gone.
The source of the "list", The Economist, is very telling. An ordered list assumes an underlying set of values, so I would ditch the Economist's values -- I mean, list.
Different interpretations of words can hinder discussion. Many interpret democracy to mean universal suffrage/ universal franchise. I don't. Even when voting was reserved for men, or for property owners, I still call that democracy. Democracy is a mess because too many people who lack the time or the brains to make a well-considered decision are still allowed to vote. We also have the huge problem of the control of information and the loss of integrity in mainstream media. If it took some minimum qualifications to get a voting card, democracy would work far better. There's a book called "America: Too Good for Fascism, Too Dumb for Democracy." by Ian Gurvitz. I know nothing about the book but it's a catchy title.
This was a very refreshing read thank you! My main question is, what can we do about it? My profession is regulated so tightly that we get a slap on the wirst if we even hint at expressing views outside of what the regulators have deemed appropriate. I'm sick of the attempts at controlling and managing our behaviour, speech, thoughts and beliefs.
I would like people to understand the how and why of the system that you are up against. It isn't a conspiracy so much as a natural expression of humans' behavior when given the chance — and we have given bureaucrats the chance at every turn.

Democracy is three wolves and a sheep deciding what's for breakfast.
Forgot to add "Semite" and "holocaust" into your collectrion of stolen words.
